One hour a week with other parents and caregivers who already know what a hard week looks like. No agenda, no intake form, no explaining the basics. Sign up once and the link comes to you.
When we meet
Thursdays · 7:00–8:00 PM · online
First meeting: Thursday, September 3, 2026
Free. Everyone is welcome.
Any diagnosis, or no diagnosis yet. Any age of child. Parents, grandparents, foster and adoptive parents, and the aunt who handles pickups all count as caregivers here. You do not have to be in crisis to come, and you do not have to be doing fine either.
What to expect
- Nothing to prepare. You don’t need a topic, a question, or an update on how therapy is going. Show up in whatever state the day left you in.
- Cameras are optional. Keep yours off the whole time if that’s what makes this possible. Plenty of people fold laundry, sit in a parked car, or eat dinner while they listen.
- Come late, leave early, or just listen. Bedtime happens. Meltdowns happen. Nobody will ask why you disappeared at 7:40, and nobody will put you on the spot to speak.
- Nothing is recorded, ever. There’s no recording, no transcript, and no notes. What gets said in the hour stays in the hour.
- Online means you can actually come. No sitter, no drive, no getting everyone into shoes. That’s the whole reason this one is online.
What an hour usually looks like
A parent volunteer opens, says who’s here, and then it’s mostly us — what’s been hard, what someone figured out, which waitlist finally moved, who needs a name for a good evaluator. Some weeks it turns practical and people trade phone numbers and paperwork tips. Some weeks somebody cries and everyone else just lets them, because that’s allowed too.
It is not therapy, and nobody here is your child’s clinician. It’s the folding-chair kind of help: people a few chapters ahead of you, and people right beside you, in the same room for an hour.
Sign up once
Give us a first name and an email address. The join link and a calendar invite come to you before Thursday, and you stay on the list for the weeks after that — no signing up again, no attendance expected.
Your email is used only for the meeting link, reminders, and (if you opt in) the newsletter. We never share the list, and group emails always go out individually — never with everyone’s addresses visible.
Questions before your first meeting? Send us a message or email hello@ourspecialvillagetn.com. A parent volunteer answers.
In-person meetups coming soon. We’re working on getting the village together face to face around Murfreesboro — newsletter readers will hear the details first. In the meantime, our support groups page lists other groups meeting around the region, including several that welcome kids and a few more that meet online.
